A focused consultation with Charge Point Operators (CPOs), was convened under NITI Aayog’s e-FAST India platform in collaboration with WRI India. This consultation is part of a nationwide series engaging stakeholders on the Bharat Zero Emission Trucking (BZET) Policy Advisory, launched by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India.
The session captured practical, ground-level insights to strengthen India’s roadmap for zero-emission trucking. Key recommendations of the discussion:
- Upgrade charging stations with fast chargers, dedicated feeder lines, upstream infrastructure support and targeted grid-strengthening, especially rural networks, to ensure stable, high-quality power for heavy-duty EVs.
- Boost operational efficiency by deploying faster chargers every 150 km and aligning infrastructure expansion with e-truck fleet growth, while streamlining approval processes to accelerate commissioning of new stations.
- Strengthen operational support with dedicated troubleshooting teams, faster service response systems, and clear protocols to resolve real-time bottlenecks.
- Introduce policies that simplify access to incentives and land procurement for charging infrastructure along priority corridors and logistics hubs, enabling faster deployment and optimal asset utilization.
