The advent of e-commerce in India has been one of the most significant sectoral transitions in the past decade, and this growth is expected to continue rapidly. The sector holds promising opportunities for India as it is expected to contribute 3.5% of India’s gross domestic product (GDP) by 2030, spur economic growth and create new jobs. Flipkart, one of India’s leading e-commerce marketplaces, is making conscious efforts towards building a sustainable, inclusive and equitable e-commerce ecosystem. The drive towards electric mobility is a significant sustainability initiative for Flipkart and a pioneering step for India. This report and related work being carried out by both WBCSD and Flipkart is an important step forward in consolidating knowledge on the best ways for e-commerce companies to adopt and scale electric mobility today.
