The Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India has released a pivotal report, ‘India's Priority Corridors for Zero-Emission Trucking,’ identifying 10 high-potential highway segments poised to lead India's transition to zero-emission freight.

“The adoption of Zero-Emission Trucks (ZETs) in India will play a crucial role in decarbonising the logistics sector, improving public health, enhancing energy independence, and showcasing the country’s leadership in the global transition to a net-zero future,” says Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India.

Discover the Rigorous Selection Process:

Identified through a rigorous 3-phase process supported by knowledge partners, Centre of Excellence for Zero Emission Trucking (CoEZET) at IIT Madras, RMI, and pManifold, these high-impact corridors can be equipped with the necessary infrastructure to facilitate seamless goods movement, powered by clean energy.

Phase 1: Quantitative and qualitative assessment to short-list top 50 corridors
Phase 2: Stakeholder convening to short-list top 24 corridors
Phase 3: Field research to short-list the top 10 corridors

Why These Corridors are Key to India's Green Future:

  • Demand aggregation and asset utilisation: High-traffic routes ensure optimal asset utilisation, reducing investment risks and attracting crucial financing.
  • Demonstration of ZET feasibility: They provide environments for real-world early pilot programs, building market confidence in zero-emission trucking technologies.
  • Long-term resource planning: Concentrated early development allows for more accurate grid and infrastructure planning.
  • Efficient policy implementation: Prioritising these corridors ensures that policy and financial support are directed where they can achieve the most significant results.

At e-FAST India, we welcome this vital roadmap for advancing zero-emission trucking and steering India closer to its net-zero goals. Dive into the resources below to learn more and join us on this journey towards freight decarbonisation.
